This month, ESI alumnus Kaïlé Auvray traveled to England with the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National team and participated in the 2020-2021 UEFA Development Tournament. He was one of 20 players representing the United States in the tournament.

Kaïlé saw the field in two of the team’s three international competitions. He was part of the starting 11 in the team’s first match against Spain, and played a full half in its third match against Denmark. Normally playing forward, Kaïlé was given the opportunity to stretch his skills and play different positions in the tournament.

"Playing on the national team was truly a great experience," Kaïlé says. "Although we did not get the results we wanted, I was able to learn a lot about the demands of playing at the international level. This experience has definitely helped me mature as a player, on and off the field. Hopefully, the first of many."

Kaïlé is of course no stranger to international play. He also plays for Lille OSC’s U-16 team, part of French Ligue 1 Academy. The UEFA Development Tournament is another great experience and big step in his progress.
